Crimson Desert’s World Almost Feels Like Red Dead Redemption 2 All Over Again

An open world as vast as Crimson Desert’s Pywel was always bound to attract comparisons to the Wild West from Red Dead Redemption. We say that’s a good thing, as we got to think long and hard about why the two games were feeling increasingly similar to us. 

Did fantasy and gritty history have enough in common to even warrant that comparison? Perhaps not, but the design philosophies that underscore each experience are quite tangible, and are definitely worth examining for similarities. That’s exactly what we’ve set out to do in this one.
