Astrobotanica promises to be a science-based survival crafting game where you can build your base, gather resources, and befriend the local flora and fauna in a Prehistoric Earth.
The title boasts little in the way of violence, instead opting to promote a love of science and living in tune with nature. However, when it comes to actual execution, it leaves much to be desired.
Generally speaking, Astrobotanica suffers from an acute lack of things to do in its world. While its world is quite large, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, creatures and plants to scan, and ruins to check out, there is little point in actually doing so.
Base-building also feels half-baked, since there isn’t much to actually build. Pair this with a horrendous UI/UX that makes it difficult to switch between tonics or tools, and you have a game that, at best, is incredibly rough, and at worst, is blatantly unfinished.
